Making some shirts!

Although I am still working hard on the Diamond Uniform Database and perfecting my template, I took some time to design shirts.  I'll post pictures when they come in.  I'm very excited because this is the first time I have ever ordered shirts.  I'm using http://www.bluecotton.com/ to order these.  There have been a few who have asked because they want to make shirts too.  If you are going to go through that process, these guys are who you should use.  I am excited to get my first order in!

In other news, I am going to bring back the 365 Days of Uniforms very soon. I just want to get a bunch of them done before I start again and right now I'm concentrating on completing 2012-2013 uniforms.  Among those is the uniform the Red Sox wore for Boston:

I think it's a great uniform.  That's it for now!  Thanks for reading!

No Computer!

I'm going crazy over here!  I've been without a computer since Friday and I hardly know what to do with myself before the Braves game comes on!  If they have a day off before I get it back I may go insane!

Ok, enough of that.  I'm just sending out a friendly reminder that I am currently not able to create anything new and as soon as I get my computer back, I'll be hard at work trying to catch up on what the teams have been wearing.  There are only a few combinations I haven't created yet.  Hope all is well and As soon as I get the computer back, you will know because you will see new stuff!

THEY DO EXIST!

The controversial 2013 BP cap for the Atlanta Braves does exist!  So far there are 6 that I have seen.  One of my Twitter followers just got one in the mail earlier today.  There are 5 more that have sold or are selling on Ebay.  The highest so far went for $192 on March 24.

Unless you have been living under a rock for the past few months, you know that this hat was the cause of a lot of controversy due to the image of the 'Laughing Brave' on the front.  Some deliberately called it the 'Screaming Savage' or 'Screaming Indian'  logo to cause more controversy and gain a more sympathetic audience towards their personal cause.  I personally contacted several  writers who brushed off what I had to say.  One even told me that even though that's not the official name, I'm calling it that because that's what it looks like.

That is just a small sample of some people bending the truth to further their own cause.  I wouldn't get so upset if people would just call it what it is and let others decide for themselves.  I'll tell you straight up, I like this hat.  I don't believe it is racist.  It is certainly not a screaming savage.  But any one of you reading this today is entitled to your own opinion as long as you respect mine as well.  I can't buy one for $192 but I would buy one if I saw it for the normal price a hat goes for.  Below is an active Ebay auction that will end on March 31.

I don't want to go on a rant about the controversy that was drummed up by a few white guys who are trying to tell Native Americans how to feel.  I thought I was the first to write about these being sold on Ebay, but it looks like Uni-Watch spotted them before I wrote this up.  It's still worth the story on here though, since it is a uniform item.

365 Days of Uniforms - Day 78

This entry will have a San Francisco flavor.  Taking center stage is the Giants uniform from 1983.  On each side of that uniform are the jerseys worn by the American and National League for the 2007 All-Star Game. San Francisco hosted the event to they get the home version.  I wanted to go with Oakland in the road version but all that green would have looked terrible with the orange (I'm looking at 'U' University of Miami) So I went with Baltimore as the road representative for the 2007 Mid-Summer Classic.  On each end of the 5 uniforms are the special jerseys worn for Opening Day.  These versions are from 2011 and 2013.  I think the 2013 version looks pretty sharp and I can't wait to see them on the field.

I just thought I would pay my respects to the soon to be former World Champion Giants as I expect to see Atlanta wearing special jerseys for Opening Day in 2014!

42

I just wanted to put this out there; 42 is coming out in a couple of weeks.  There are 2 main reasons I want to watch this movie.  Of course I want to see the extraordinary story of Jackie Robinson and Branch Rickey told on the big screen.  This movie should have been made a long time ago.  Anyone close to the story will tell you that Robinson and Rickey needed each other in order for that to work.  Robinson's struggle coming up in the league is well documented.  This was a time where baseball was taking the lead on race relations in the United States.  Branch Rickey picked the right man to team up with for this great experiment.  I can't wait to see this movie for that reason.

The other reason is...the UNIFORMS!  In the trailers I saw the Pirates and Phillies so far to go along with the Dodgers beautiful uniforms from 1947.  Additional pictures reveal the Reds.  I hope we are treated to the Boston Braves and St. Louis Cardinals uniforms of the time as well.  From what I've seen, the uniforms are very well done.  I can't wait to see these beauties on the big screen.  Judge me, I'm a uniform geek!

Player Cut-Outs

In addition to the uniforms and stuff I make for Braves fans, I also do woodwork.  These designs come from an artist who did cards in the late 1970's.  The Ones I changed and updated myself are Chipper Jones, Dale Murphy, Jason Heyward, Willie Mays, and Willie McCovey.  My friend and I make these in his garage.  We cut and hand-paint each one.  These are made out of a composite wood and stand 2 ft. tall.  If you want one, E-mail me!

Here are two I have yet to cut out.  Jason Heyward and Dale Murphy

The Uniform Databases

The Diamond Uniform Database

I want to make sure all of my readers visit The Diamond Uniform Database to see every uniform worn this season.  The guys over there have football and basketball taken care of.  When I got the invite to join the team for the 2013 baseball season, I was not about to pass up the opportunity.  We will be tracking every uniform on a daily basis.  Make sure you give that site a visit, and see what everyone is wearing this year!

365 Days of Uniforms Project

I want to put something out there for those of you who are asking if this is still going on.  Yes I will still be doing the 365 Days of Uniforms project.  I will have a 5 uniform set to represent every day in the year!  I decided not too long ago to take a break from posting every day, and it turned out to be the right decision because lately I've been under the weather and that would have been brutal! I'll start posting more unique uniforms soon so don't worry!

Uni-Watch

For those who don't know, I was recently featured on Uni-Watch. Go over there and check it out.  It talks a little about how I started this uniform stuff and what you can look for in the Diamond Uniform Database.

Thanks everyone for reading!  Opening day will be here soon!  For my Braves followers out there, here's a custom wallpaper showing the schedule for the 2013 Season.  I'm using it as my desktop background!
